ALTO TS212 REVIEW IN November 2023

Alto is a relatively new company with a little over 20 years of experience in the industry. They boast on their website that they think of themselves as a Live Performance Reinforcement company for both the performance and value their products carry. I will be able to test that theory out for myself by purchasing the TS212.

Alto TS212 Speakers Reviewed

Alto TS212 is a trapezoidal speaker which tapers to the back. It is 14.04 inches wide, 23.28 inches tall, and has a depth of 13.8 inches. The unit weighs 28.4 pounds. The casing is made out of polypropylene, and a perforated steel grille protects the drivers. Behind the grille are two speakers, namely a 1-inch neodymium driver and a 12-inch woofer. It has a wide coverage of 90 degrees horizontally and 60 degrees vertically. The back panel contains the controls with two mic or line inputs and an XLR mix output. It is also here where you can find the volume knobs and a clip limiter with another LED indicator. The back is fairly simple compared to other speakers I have seen, with the controls grouped at the top part, followed by the name and usual things written on the back of the speaker. Below that is the power socket as well as the power switch.

There are two visible handles along both sides of the speaker and another at the top, accessed through the back panel. It can either be mounted on a pole or through its M10 suspension points. What I like about this speaker is that it uses passive cooling technology, meaning it has no fans. The website promises a clearer and more distinct sound coming from the speaker.

At first sound, the speakers blew me away, figuratively. It isn’t as powerful a kick, but the impact was there. I was awed at the rich texture of the sounds the speakers produce. The sound is compact and not shattered even when I am far away from the unit. My entire room is filled with consistent and full notes. I rediscover my favorite songs as if I am listening to them with new ears.

These new layers do not faze me since they make the audio feel more powerful in my mind. They add more depth to songs I never knew could feel more full. It’s an experience worth having. I am not one to claim that I am an expert in these kinds of things. I am speaking as someone who has listened to songs for so long using speakers. This is a great find, and I am very much happy with my purchase.

The unit is also very easy to clean. My younger brother came into the room with sticky hands. After reprimanding his parents, I got to cleaning my things, the speaker among them. To my surprise, it was easy to wipe off the grease from the casing with a soft, damp cloth.

Pros and Cons

One of the pros is that the unit can be placed anywhere, and it will still sound great. It blends well with its surroundings and does not stick out more than it needs to. The sounds are rich and full.

The one con I can see is the space that it eats up, especially in places with limited space. It can be on the bulky side of speakers. Nonetheless, it is quality and will not disappoint. I hope that this kind of quality does not drop in a few years. First-time purchases often go great, but succeeding ones can be disappointing.

Final Thoughts

I recommend this product to anyone interested in buying such. True to their word, the unit has both performance and value rolled in one. It is worth investing in one Alto speaker than wasting money on low-quality speakers that do not last more than a month. Even if the company is a new one, it can stand up to the big names with its quality products.

I took a risk and reaped the benefits. It’s high time you do, too.
